CONGRATULATIONS TO WOLLATON
2004 WINNERS OF THE BINGHAM INDOOR COMPETITION

For the first time, Wollaton CC are the Bingham U13 Indoor Cricket Champions, comfortably defeating Papplewick & Linby CC in the final to maintain their unbeaten run throughout the competition. Batting first, the Papplewick innings was well anchored by Somekh (38 n.o.) making a total score of 80-4. However, this was soon made to look easy by a class Wollaton side, who reached the target with 11 balls to spare. The opening pair of Reiss and Mishra both retired with scores of 27 and 25 respectively, leaving Selwood to seal victory with 19 n.o.

In the semi-finals, Wollaton eased past Kirby Portland and Papplewick & Linby produced a well paced reply to defeat Ellerslie having earlier bowled them out for 71 runs. In the third place playoff, last year's winners Ellerslie beat Kirkby Portland.

All four teams are to be congratulated on the standard of cricket played throughout the day, and indeed during the whole tournament that has involved 12 teams playing each Sunday since January.

Once again, Mavis and Tony Cockayne have done a superb job of running the tournament, which once again was sponsored by Singleton & Bloor estate agents.
