SCORERS COUNT!
There are a number of skills required to become a scorer in cricket and we’re here to help you get to grips with all of them from the very basics, to advanced techniques.
A. Club Scorer – how to record a cricket match
Club Scorer is the course for anyone wanting to score on a regular basis and is the only one to comprehensively teach you how to score. This course is suitable for complete beginners and existing scorers who want to improve their skills. On completion of the course you’ll receive an ECB ACO club scorer certificate.
B. Scorer Level 2
This one-day course is for ECB ACO members who are accredited level 1 scorers and are thinking about scoring matches for multiple clubs, in new and longer formats of the game. It doesn’t contain any more details on how to score but focuses on the planning and preparation required when scoring away from your own club and some of the additional duties that a scorer could perform.
Topics covered in this course include:-
• Planning and preparation when scoring for a new club or in unfamiliar surroundings
• Other people that a scorer might interact with • Understanding match regulations applied in one-day cricket
• Laws of cricket governing one day cricket (e.g. Follow-on, Declaration, Last Hour)
• Consideration of alternative methods of scoring
• Producing statistics
• Interpreting events that may occur on the field of play
• Working conditions (scorebox design and etiquette)
• What makes a good scorer?
Having attended this one day course, scorers will need to score a minimum of 10 matches, putting into practice the topics covered in the course and build a portfolio of evidence.
