Women's Indoor League Round One
Notts All-Stars produced a fine opening display on the first week of the Women’s Indoor Cricket League as they completed a comprehensive victory of Notts Finest.
That rocketed the side in to an early lead of the six-week competition as the second game of the night produced a much tighter affair.
The 8pm start between Plumtree and Nottingham University came down to just a four-run margin with the students picking up the all-important victory with both reports, and the scorecards, below.
Notts Finest 0 - 138 Notts All-Stars
The first Women's Indoor League game ended with a substantial 138-0 win for Notts All-Stars against Notts Finest. Notts Finest opened the batting and struggled to get going against the Notts All-Star bowlers of Jo Derbyshire and Rosie Penford, who both took five wickets apiece.
Notts All-Stars continued their dominance when it came to bat with each player in double figures as they took seven points from the match to march to top of the table.
Plumtree Ladies CC 104-108 Nottingham University Ladies CC
The second match of the night saw Nottingham University gain a narrow victory over Plumtree. Plumtree opened the batting with the first pair scoring 43 within the first four overs with Elousie Haywood contributing 29 runs. Nottingham University managed to slow Plumtree's progress with from wickets from Kelly Sladen and the students looked as though they were going to dominate the match when they started to bat.
Within half of the innings they had racked up a score of 82 and were well on the way to winning but Plumtree fought hard to take the game all the way to the last overs. A tense finish to the game ensued but Nottingham University took a slender win by four runs.
