Suspension of non-elite sport.
A statement from the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board on the impact of new restrictions for England on the recreational game.
The UK Government recently announced a new set of restrictions for England to combat the spread of Covid-19.
These measures, which come into force on Thursday 5 November, will also trigger the suspension of all non-elite sport across the country – including recreational cricket, indoor nets and activities for those in our County Age Group system.
As educational settings remain open, Chance to Shine activities are permitted to continue – subject to the agreement of individual schools.
We are saddened that participation opportunities will be so severely limited in the coming weeks, but we urge all clubs, players and volunteers to adhere to the latest government guidelines.
We will continue to liaise with our governing body regarding the return of the game at recreational level, and will share any meaningful updates as we receive them.
We remain determined to offer a year-round provision to take part in our sport, as soon it is deemed safe to do so.
