New Coach For 2016
Martyn Kiel, who is a former Workforce Development Officer at the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board, has been appointed as the new head coach of Nottinghamshire's Women’s team.
Culminating with the inaugural season of the Women’s Super League, Nottinghamshire Cricket Board changed the role from voluntary to a seasonal one-year paid opportunity.
Kiel, who will continue with his role as coach development manager at the ECB, is hoping to gain valuable coaching experience as well as progressing the women’s game in Nottinghamshire.
"When the opportunity came about and I heard what direction they were wanting to take women's cricket in Nottinghamshire, I jumped at the chance," Kiel said.
"I really enjoyed working there previously and for me it was a sense of returning to somewhere where I knew some of the players and wanted to work with them further.
"They have some very talented players in Jenny Gunn, Danielle Wyatt and Sonia Odedra as well as some up and coming youngsters, who I worked with in my previous capacity, and I look forward to working with them again."
The women’s season starts on April 2 and Cricket Development Officer Jack Arnold believes Martyn will hit the ground running.
“The recruitment process was competitive and it was so pleasing to see such a hunger to coach within the women’s game,” Arnold said.
“Martyn has a wide variety of coaching and leadership experience and his creative and innovative thinking will engage all audiences across our player pathway.”
