Aspiring Coaches Given Boost -
Nottinghamshire Cricket Board (NCB) has launched two coaching courses running across the winter, which will allow aspiring coaches to obtain the necessary training and qualifications.
On top of that there are further opportunities available for those with existing qualifications seeking to branch into working with different age groups.
The NCB has replaced the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) Level One and Two courses with contemporary Certificate Courses; the ECB Certificate in Coaching Children’s Cricket and ECB Certificate in Coaching Young People and Adults.
The former is a bespoke course for those wanting to coach players aged six to 13, while the latter is geared up for candidates wishing to coach players aged 14 and over.
The ECB Certificate in Coaching Children’s Cricket will cost £275 for clubs affiliated with the NCB, while for non-affiliated clubs the price will increase to £300.
The ECB Certificate in Coaching Young People and Adults, meanwhile, will cost £275 for affiliated clubs and £300 for others.
Prospective candidates must be at least 17-years-old to apply for either course, and be 18 upon the date of the respective assessments part of each programme; a further pre-requisite is to hold DBS clearance.
Similarly, both courses require candidates to undertake: eight three-hour modules in addition to a first aid course, E-Learning modules, an online safeguarding and protecting children strand and six one-hour supported practice sessions – to be undertaken in a club environment with a supported coach.
Two courses will be available to attend for those who aspire to coach children aged six to 13; course one – CCTB1 – will be held at Trent Bridge from Sunday, 16 October, and finish on Sunday, 12 March. Its sister course, CCW2, will either be held at Worksop College or Cuckney, with the venue to be confirmed – the second course will commence on Sunday, 18 December, and culminate on Sunday, 19 March.
The course to coach young people and adults – code YPM1 – shall predominately be held at Minister School. The first session, however, an introduction and first aid lesson, will be held at Trent Bridge on Sunday, 8 January – but, from then on, the programme will be held at Minister, with the course finishing on Sunday, 23 April.
There is a range of new three-hour modules aimed at coaches who have completed their Certificate Course or equivalent (for example, UKCC Level Two).
