Despite the 2015 cricket season coming to a close well over a month ago, clubs across the county are buckling down for the important winter period in their bid to start 2016 in the best possible situation.
With attention turning away from the field, events continue to flourish in the background as cricket clubs aim to involve their members throughout the off-season.
Attenborough Cricket Club is no different with their events beginning in fine fashion with a firework display on Saturday 31 October.
Gates open at 7:30pm with tickets available from £2.50 for children of five and over, adults costing £4 and children under five going in free.
Further events to follow at ACC:
- Club Annual General Meeting, Friday 27 November - Members of the club, or anyone wanting to join ACC, wishing to keep up to date with how the season went and what is in store for 2016 can attend the club AGM from 7.30pm in the Pavilion.
- Indoor nets- Preparations for the new season begin in January with indoor nets for the ladies, juniors and adults of ACC. Bramcote College is the venue of indoor nets for ACC’s ladies (Thursday 7 January) and the juniors (Friday 8 January) before the senior indoor nets begin the Sunday after (January 17) at Woodhead Hall, Trent Bridge.
- Club meal at Haveli Indian Restaurant – New to the club and wanting to get to know your teammates? ACC have their annual meal on Sunday 6 March from 1pm, a great way to create the team unity that will be crucial throughout the season.
- Club Golf day – A chance to pit your skills against your teammates away from the cricket field and gain ultimate bragging rights throughout the season. ACC take their golf day to The Nottinghamshire Golf Club on Friday 1 April, meet at 12.30pm for a 2pm start. The day will culminate in a meal and prizes given out from 6pm so make sure you join the team at the Club before the serious cricket action begins.
- NatWest Cricket force day – Every club needs help to ensure they start the season on the right track and Saturday 2 April gives everyone involved with the club a chance to take part in one of the most important days of the cricketing season.
Women in Sport have launched a Crowdfunder campaign, called ‘What If?’, which is running until November 4 2015 with the aim to raise money to investigate how women's sport is covered by girl's media. For more information about the campaign visit www.crowdfunder.co.uk/whatif.
