Celebrating Nottinghamshire's Ashes Legacy.
The next phase in the Nottinghamshire Cricket Ashes legacy programme to renew the playing facilities at Victoria Embankment, Nottingham takes place on Tuesday 4 August when the Field of Dreams project is officially launched. A new cricket pavilion costing some £750,000 will be built by December 2015 to protect and enhance the future of cricket in the city.
The money has been raised by an innovative and unique partnership with £432,000 from grant aid and the remaining sum being contributed by a range of commercial partners who have been supplying building supplies or services to the project.
The spirit of the old pavilion on the site will also be immortalised as the partnership will bury a time capsule which will have remnants and memories of the old pavilion which has stood since 1906. Ashes winners Simon Jones (2005) and Graeme Swann (2009, 2010-11 and 2013) will be at the event and it is hoped that some of the 2015 team will be on hand to help inaugurate this incredible legacy to the game.
Jones and former Notts favourite Swann will also be planting a willow tree which will be felled in 20 years to make some 40 cricket bats.
Everyone is welcome to attend the event which starts at 10.00 am on Tuesday 4 August at Victoria Embankment, Nottingham. The event is open to everyone and there will be a chance for photos and autographs with the Ashes stars, and to be present at the start of what is an exciting new chapter in recreational cricket in the city.
