Education Courses in Nottinghamshire

Courses
UKCC1 (Assistant Coach)
This
course starts you on the coaching pathway and focuses strongly on
the “How to Coach” skills. These skills are a pre-requisite on the
pathway to becoming a successful coach at the next and ensuing
levels.
Format and Joining Requirements
·
The 4 modules of the course are normally run over 5
consecutive weekday evenings
6pm to
9pm or on a Sunday morning 9am to 12 noon
·
An assessment takes place on the 5th session
during which the candidate is required to run a 10 to 15 minute
session using 6/8 other candidate coaches
who act as players during the assessment
·
ALL
candidates MUST
Ø
complete
a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Form
Ø
attend
a
Safeguarding and Protecting Children Course (approx 3 hours
duration)
Ø
attend
a First Aid Course (approx 1½ hours duration)
Ø
The above courses will be scheduled into the programme within
close proximity of the venue
Application Process
·
Courses will be in the ownership of the local District
Development Group (DDG) until
June 1st
2008
·
After this date nominations will be opened up to all DDGs
·
Minimum age 16 yrs

appropriate fee MUST BE submitted with all applications
irrespective of the funding stream monies being received or in

UKCC2 (Coach)
This
course builds on the skills acquired on UKCC1. The course expands on
the “How to Coach “skills and also the “What to Coach” elements.
Format and Joining Requirements
·
The course comprises of 8 x 3 hour modules which take place
over 4 consecutive Sundays from
9am to
4pm
·
An assessment takes place when candidates have produced
evidence that they have undertaken supported practice (6 training
sessions with children supervised by a current UKCC2 coach)
·
This assessment is held approximately
2 months after the final module
·
The assessment is a 15 minute session working with 8 young
children
·
ALL
candidates MUST

a
current England and Wales Cricket Board ( ECB) Criminal Records
Bureau (CRB) Form
Ø
hold
a current Supporting and Protecting Children Course Certificate
Ø
hold
a
current First Aid Certificate
Ø
NOTE: It is essential that all of these requirements are
renewed every 3 years

Applications are accepted from coaches in any district
·
It is advisable that candidates hold a UKCC1 qualification
prior to applying for this course
·
Minimum age 18 yrs

Subscription
Should
courses become oversubscribed the following criteria will be applied
in priority order:

Applicant is a member of a Focus Club
-
Applicant is a member of a club which regularly attend DDG
meetings
-
Applicant is a member of a club affiliated to the Notts Cricket
Board
-
Teachers working in Nottinghamshire Schools
-
Any other applicants
Funding Sources and Course Fees
·
Most District Councils will have funding streams for coach
education. Contact your local District Council Sports Development
Officer for details
·
Nottinghamshire County Council operates a “Coach Scholarship
Fund” which can be accessed by all excepting courses within the City
·
